Laundry Care
What we at Cowtown Kids recommend:
Pre rinse with no detergent, cold water (to rid of any waste).
Wash on hot cycle with detergent (to clean and sanitize).
Cold Rinse.
*Use 1/4 of detergent recommended for top loading washing machines and 1/8 for front loading washing machines.
We recommend stripping your diapers every one or two months. Stripping is very easy and rids any possible oils and soap residue from diaper creams and wipe solution that would interfere with maximum absorbency.
Regular Stripping:
Wash soiled diapers as above. Rewash diapers on hottest cycle with no detergent 2-3 times. Voila, Done!
If residue build up is suspected and your diapers are leaking:
*Top loading machines only due to possible soap suds.
Add a few drops of dawn dish soap to your hot wash cycle. Dawn dish soap is a degreaser and eliminates any oils that may be hiding in your diaper from certain lotions or creams.
If your diapers smell or have odor:
Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to hot wash (to neutralize and eliminate odors).
Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to rinse cycle (to disinfect).
Run another rinse cycle with no detergent.
*Hang diapers to dry outside on a sunny day. This will sanitize your diapers, rid any stains and keep your elastic like new!
Detergent:
Cowtown Kids recommends using only phosphate free, additive free detergent. Additives such as brighteners or fragrances have the possibility to causing build up in your diaper interfering with maximum absorbency. We carry Rockin Green Detergent which is made specifically for cloth diapers in mind. So many yummy scents to enjoy!
If you have any other questions we have not touched on please contact us. We would love to help!
